Adopted 9 June 1960 on 82K, as submitted in 1955 by mountaineer Peter Robinson (file P.3.37).

Presumably named in 1954 by Robinson, who climbed in the area that year; so-named because sometimes it can be seen from Crystalline valley during a rain storm - its summit shrouded in clouds and a waterfall pouring from its northern face.
