Origin Notes and History:

Adopted 6 April 1950 on BC Lands' map 4D, as labelled on BC Lands' map 1EM, 1915, and on Dominion Sectional sheet #14, 1916. Altered application (headwaters channel) 4 September 1957 on Columbia River Basin manuscript #97 - field inspection confirms that west fork (not south fork) is the main stem.

After Thomas Foisey, oldtimer who lived in the area; he was a miner and lumberman at Fernie and Flagstone, and was also district fire warden; identified on Voter's Lists through 1916, but not on 1920 Voter's List.
