Local name - "named after Flora MacLeod, who was the first white lady to explore its whereabouts..." (31 October 1952 letter, file C.1.50). Soon thereafter, four area residents resubmitted the name, advising that the name referred to the great number of wild flowers in the vicinity. (18 November 1952 letter, file C.1.50).
