Origin Notes and History:

Fitzwilliam (Station) adopted 17 January 1951 on Jasper Park map, at 52 53 - 118 41 as identified in CNR timetables from 1929; located 6.2 miles west of Lucerne and 10.4 miles west of Yellowhead. Coordinates adjusted 31 May 1983 to 52 52 - 118 40. No passenger service from 1986.

Named by CNR in association with nearby Mount Fitzwilliam, in turn named in 1863 by Viscount Milton after his family's senior title - his father was 6th Earl Fitzwilliam. See "The North-West Passage by Land" by Milton and Cheadle, published at London, 1865.
