Origin Notes and History:

Cooper Mountain adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924, as labelled on Geological Survey sheet 19A, Lardeau, 1911, and on BC map 1EM, 1915 et seq. Listed as Cooper Mountain in 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Mount Cooper 9 June 1960, on 82 K.

In association with Cooper Creek, in turn named before 1895, after an 1880's Kaslo prospector and trapper. A mountain pass, referred to as "Cooper Pass" was once located in this vicinity, but the trail has long since been destroyed by fire and slides.
