North Vermilion and Little Vermilion Creek were suggested here, as the mountain pass at the headwaters was labelled Little Vermilion Pass on BC map 1EM, 1915, however, "...on account of the duplication of the name Vermilion ...some alteration should be made. The designation of other features as Little Vermilion, etc. tend to cause confusion. The little Vermilion pass is on the trail used by rangers and others going to Brisco and Luxor, so that either of [those] names might be adopted". (BC letter to Geographic Board of Canada 6 June 1924, file K.2.24)
