Named by William Fowler DeVoe, BCLS, a member of the 1913 survey party in Strathcona Park, after his father, William Judson DeVoe, a salesman with Jardine & Co, living at Hampton, NB. DeVoe also named Mount Heber for his brother. In a twist of fate, William DeVoe drowned a few weeks later, while still on the survey, and Mount DeVoe was named in his memory. Probate records that confirm given & family names supplied January 1995 by Lindsay Elms, Strathcona Park Lodge (file B.1.38)
