Barrett (Railway Station) adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 369A, as labelled on BC map 3D, 1913 et seq. Form of name changed to Barrett (Locality) 29 November 1984; changed back to Barrett (Railway Point) 13 November 1997; area residents live at the locality known as Barrett Lake about 1 mile NE of the railway point.
