Dr. J.G. Souther, Geological Survey of Canada, named Eve Cone during his geological studies in the area (no date given), after Eve Brown Edzerza, a native woman living in the area. Many years earlier, while traversing Mount Edziza with her husband and a Mr. Hank Williams, she had survived an avalanche that killed both men. Johnny Edzerza was buried on the mountain but his grave marker was mis-spelled 'Edzertza'. See also Beautiful British Columbia magazine, Spring 1974, p 41.
