Origin Notes and History:
Established per Order in Council 1046, 2 May 1953, containing 71 acres. Redescribed per OIC 612/86. Conversion of OIC to Statute designation per Bill 17-2000: Protected Areas of British Columbia Act, 29 June 2000; the whole containing 29 ha. more or less. Boundary redescribed per Bill 50-2004: Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; the whole now containing approximately 33 hectares (27 hectares of upland and 6 hectares of foreshore).

Although themselves childless, Mrs. Wilson and her husband, a BC Forest Service ranger, did much for the children of the Burns Lake District, among other things holding summer camps for the forest-oriented Young Ranger Band.
