Drains through the north end, as shown on topographic plan 20L21, North-West Portion of Okanagan Lake Valley, by R.D. McCaw, 1918; the natural outlet is at the north end of the lake, per Water Rights Engineering survey July 1920 (WR file 0277099, re: licence to dam Esperon Lake at the north end, and excavate a ditch at the SE end to drain the lake into a southern branch of Esperon Creek; drains from the north end of Esperon Lake through an unnamed creek on BC Lands' map 4M, Nicola Lake, 1927 [on this map, Esperon Creek headwaters are south of the lake, not connected]; described as "Head of Esperon Creek" in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. "Head of Esperon Creek which drains the lake at the north end; at times there may be an overflow into Nicola River." (November 1970 notation on BC name card).The feature shown as a drainage channel on earlier maps is depicted as a secondary road on federal 1:50,000 map 82L/4, ed. 1 & 2, published in 1968 & 1976 respectively, and drainage is depicted from the southwest end of Esperon Lake toward Nicola River [Esperon Creek headwaters are shown to the north of the lake, not connected]. Outlet is at the southwest end of Esperon Lake per 1:20,000 provincial atlas map 82L.002, draining westward to Nicola River [Esperon Creek headwaters are north of the lake, not connected.]

This lake is on the height of land dividing Kamloops and Osoyoos Divisions of the Yale Land District; at times there may be an overflow into Nicola River.
