Border Peak adopted 17 June 1946. Name changed to Canadian Border Peak 21 May 1981, as recommended by Glenn Woodsworth, Alpine Club of Canada.

"Border Peak" so-named by visiting members of the Alpine Club, as a "partner peak" to one lying south of the border, which they designated American Border Peak (March 1944, file C.1.50 pt.1).
