After Cambrai, a fortified town in France's Flanders area of the Scheldt which had been the site of a tank battle in late November 1917; the Royal Newfoundland Regiment were amongst the allied troops engaged in the First Battle of Cambrai (1917), and Canadian Expeditionary Forces were amongst those recapturing the town from the Germans in October 1818.
