Named after Atwell Duncan Francis Joseph King (1877-1947), leader of the first party to reach the summit of Mount Garibaldi, 1907. Born at Montreal 11 October 1877; lived at Victoria since 1876. Employed as a solicitor by BC Electric Company for 33 years and was an ardent mountaineer, pioneering many routes in the Vancouver/Coast Mountains area. Died at Victoria 4 November 1947.
