Origin Notes and History:
Muchalat (Post Office & Steamer Landing) adopted 6 February 1952 on 92E at 49° 39' x 126° 09'. Name changed to Gold River (Post Office & Steamer Landing) 5 July 1961, and application altered to 49° 41' x 126° 0'7. Incorporated as a District Municipality with 2 sites 2 September 1965; re-incorporated as a Village Municipality (date not cited). Gold River (Village) confirmed 15 September 1981, and application altered to include both sites: 49° 41' x 126° 07' on 92E/9, and 49° 47' x 126° 03' on 92E/16.

Muchalat Post Office was opened 25 March 1952, located on Lot 2 on the south side of Muchalat Inlet. Relocated to IR 12 on the north side of Muchalat Inlet near the mouth of Gold River, 6 January 1955. Renamed Gold River Post Office 11 November 1961. See also the municipality's own website.
