G.A. Munday was at one time owner of L.359. [Reported to be established] on a Municipal map of 1920 the spelling 'Munday" was used for the Lake and Street, but at some unknown date the Post Office required that the spelling of the street name be changed to "Mundy" to avoid duplication with another Munday Street within the then New Westminster Postal District. By association, and no doubt through the influence of the street sign, the spelling of the lake name was changed locally, and by the time of the establishment of Mundy Lake Memorial Park, "Mundy" was the spelling used by the Municipality for all three features.
It is thought best to make no spelling changes for the time being. It seems likely that the Municipal Council and the local residents would balk at changing "Mundy" to "Munday", but on the other hand, it is felt that it would be a pity to lose a personal commemoration and historical link by changing "Munday" to "Mundy" (L.I. 14 May 1976).
