Steppe Creek adopted 17 Januayr 1951 on Jasper Park (North) sheet, as labelled on BC-Alta Boundary map #31, 1922, and as listed in the 1930 BC Gazetteer.

This creek, and glacier at headwaters, were labelled "Terrace Creek" and "Terrace Glacier" on A.O. Wheeler's 1911 topographic map of Mount Robson area, to accompany his report to the Alpine Club of Canada.
