Origin Notes and History:

Eagle Lake adopted 25 March 1914 for BC map 1G. Name changed to Lhuy Nachasgwen Gunlin 11 June 2020 on 92N/16 as recommended by the Tŝilhqot'in National Government as this is the Tŝilhqot'in name for this lake and it was supported by Cariboo Regional District, Rec Sites and Trails BC, and the Cariboo Mountain Bike Consortium.

Lhuy Nachasgwen Gunlin is the Tŝilhqot’in name for this lake meaning 'where there are many small fish.' Refers to this lake as well as the wider area. Sometimes pronounced without a nasal 'n' as Lhuy Nachasgwen Gulin (Advice from Tŝilhqot’in National Government, 2018).
