Port Simpson Band changed its name to the Lax Kw'alaams Band effective February 22, 1983. Port Simpson Indian Reserve No. 1 and Tsimpsean Indian Reserve No. 2 were amalgamated on 17 June 1996 by Band Council Resolution 96197-14 to form Lax Kw'alaams Indian Reserve 1.
