Named in 1964 by Alpine Club of Canada climbing party, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespere's birth: Iago was an exceptionally deceptive character in Shakespere's Othello, and the mountain is similarly deceptive in appearance. (December 1964 letter, file P.1.51)
