"[Kostal Lake] may be the same lake that your department called 'Mud Lake' though there may be several lakes in that locality. Frank Kostal, a very reliable trapper, helped me to place this lake on the map, hence the name." (14 April 1936 letter from Angus Horne to the Hon. Wellesley Gray, Minister of Lands, file W.2.40) and "Frank Kostal lives here [Blue River], but he traps on Thunder River, and does a little prospecting in the summer, and since he is a very reliable fellow, and since he came across from the Clearwater River to Murtle River via this lake several times, he gave me the data I used to place [this lake] on the map." (10 June 1936 letter from Horne to the Minister, file W.2.40)
