Origin Notes and History:
"Lequime Lake (not Shoot nor Chute)" adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Lequime Lake confirmed 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 420A, Kettle River. Name changed to Chute Lake 6 October 1955 on 82E, to conform with established local usage. See Chute Creek.

BC map 1EM, 1915, labels "Lequime (Chute) Lake" drained by "Lequime (Wildhorse) Creek". This lake is not labelled on BC map 4K, 1923, but outlet is identified as "Lequime (Shoot) Creek".
