China Creek adopted 2 June 1950 on 82F/4 as the well-established local name, not Poupore Creek as identified on BC map 1EM, 1915.

To avoid confusion with other "China" creeks, W.S. Drewry, BCLS, renamed this c1892, after Jim Poupore, one of the old time railway contractors; residents continued to call this China Creek.
