Boundary redescribed per Bill 50-2004: Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; area confirmed per Bill 16-2005: Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act; the whole containing approximately 7,463 hectares.

"Lava Forks Park" is a slight misnomer - the park surrounds the upper reaches of a watercourse called Lava Fork (singular).
