Origin Notes and History:
Translation: "beach at hind end". The name has also been written huxwiay'lis. Another name for the site was Atlalko. Principal village of the Hahuamis until sometime after 1865 when the Hahuamis joined the Gwawaenuk and the Tsawatainuk [Dzawada'enuxw] at Gwayasdams. In 1886 the site was allotted as a Gwawaenuk reserve, Alalco IR 8. (Dawson 1887:3, Boas 1969; Galois 1994: 112-113.)
