Origin Notes and History:

Donald (station) adopted 8 September 1932 on 82N/SW, as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Donald (settlement) 4 October 1951 on 82N/SW, and Donald Station (Post Office) adopted at the same time, after the post office Department refused the single name "Donald". Both names to be labelled on provincial and federal maps. Form of name changed to Donald (community) and Donald Station (Post Office) rescinded 26 May 1995.

The location was originally known as First Crossing because it was here that the CPR first crossed the Columbia River. Donald Station Post Office was opened 15 June 1930, located at Donald (station). Post Office closed 15 April 1981.
