Discovery (settlement) adopted 6 May 1947 on 104NW, as labelled on BC map 1H, 1917. Name rescinded 4 October 1951 on 104N.

Discovery Post Office was opened 1 July 1899, located at Pine Creek, about halfway between Surprise and Atlin Lakes. This locality was labelled "Pine City" on BC Reference map 52 (date not cited). Discovery Post Office was closed 18 December 1930; settlement long since deserted according to September 1951 advice from Government Agent (letter, file A.1.51)
