According to local residents, historical societies and a retired forest ranger, this feature was named after Glen Lemaster, who ran a logging operation at the base of the mountain. The correct spelling of his given name is with one "n". Glen Lemaster was born in Kentucky in 1898 and after many relocations began logging in this vicinity in 1948; he retired in 1959 and died in 1967. (confirmation of spelling and biographical details provided by his son, Robert Lemaster)
