Named to remember RCAF Flight Lieutenant William John Maitland, DFM, from Vancouver. F/L Maitland was serving with 208 Squadron on operations over Europe when he was killed in action 16 December 1943, age 22; with no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede Memorial, UK, panel 172. Survived by parents Royal Lethington Maitland and Ruth Hildred Maitland, Vancouver.
