Kerr Creek (settlement) adopted 3 April 1959 on 82E/SE as a well-established name. Subsequently changed to Kerr Creek (locality).

"After Robert D. Kerr, who had a cabin at the present Grand Forks in 1885, and settled on land at Kerr Creek in 1893. He was for many years Customs Officer at Midway and has now retired to Grand Forks. Mr. Kerr worked on the earliest surveys at Cascade, Grand Forks and Kettle Valley, and also at Cherry Creek east of Vernon." (Rupert W.
