Floods (station) adopted 7 April 1955, as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Floods (community) 16 June 1983.

Labelled "Flood" on BC Lands' map 2B, 1914, being the spelling of the post office name, opened 1 December 1913 on property belonging to William Lewis Flood, early builder and sawmill operator in the Hope district, who settled here in 1894. Date of opening Floods station, as named by CNR, not recorded.
