Kingcome (settlement) adopted 5 March 1959 on C.3576. Form of name changed to Kingcome (locality) 14 January 1983 on 92L/16. See Kingcome Inlet (inlet) for name origin.

"Settlement located on Quagee Reservation as per Royal Commission Report on Indian affairs of 1916. Listed as principal village of all bands of tribe. According to Forest Engineering, two members of staff who worked in the area report that the name "Kingcome" Indians was used to refer to those in the settlement.
