Origin Notes and History:

Cracroft (Post Office and settlement) adopted 6 April 1950 on 92/NW; located at 50° 34' 10" - 126° 16' 20" at the head of Port Harvey. Form of name changed to Cracroft (locality) 26 April 1965 on 92L, and location changed to 50° 31' 35" - 126° 22' 50" on the east side of Forward Bay (file A.3.65).

Cracroft Post Office was opened 15 June 1905, located on the west side of Lot 474 at the head of Port Harvey; relocated 1/2 mile eastward to Lot 1790 some time before 17 October 1928, according to postmaster's sketch. Cracroft Post Office was closed 15 June 1945; re-opened 1 November 1945, still located at head of Port Harvey; relocated 2 July 1951 to Lot 1070 on the east shore of Forward Bay; closed permanently 27 August 1951. Only 2 people residing at original location of Cracroft Bay Post Office according to 1961 Census; 4 people residing there according to 1976 Census. See Cracroft Islands.
