"Seeam" being an Indian word for "chief", so-named to honour all mayors of Courtenay. Objected to by Comox-Courtenay Board of Trade. Changed to McKenzie Lake, after John McKenzie, mayor of Courtenay at the time that water rights were obtained to dam this lake (1929).
