Saunier Creek adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 420A, as labelled on BC Lands' map 4K, 1923, and as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer.

Had been labelled "Wilkinson Creek" on BC Lands' map 1EM, 1915 (ie. understood at the time to be the headwaters channel of Wilkinson Creek); subsequently confirmed to be a tributary of Wilkinson Creek, and renamed for 1923 map after Eugene Saunier, pre-emptor on Lot 1277 about 5 miles south of here.
