J.F. Smith, early North Thompson prospector, reported that one James Dunn had mined gold with a rocker "...above the North River Indian village..." about 1888. Dunn became sick and went to California - and was never heard of again. (Kamloops Museum, 1978) Also Dunn Creek, Lake and Range.
