"Hwuis-y-yez-wa River" labelled on Sketch map of River and Lake System, drawn in 1921 by Frank Swannell, BCLS. "Hwuis-u-tezwa....the name as spelt after hearing it pronounced several times by an English speaking Indian met on Kitlope River... very difficult to pronounce by Europoeans... suggest Tezwa River." (27 October 1921 notations by F.C. Swannell, BCLS, on BC name card.)
