Glade (station) adopted 5 March 1959 on 82F/SW, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915. Form of name changed to Glade (settlement) 9 February 1966 on 82F/5. Form of name changed Glade (community) 16 December 1975.

Letter from Post Office Department 19 September 1942, announcing the intention to open Glade Post Office, 1.4 miles south of Shoreacres in the Electoral District of Kootenay West; named in association with the nearby station (Columbia & Kootenay Branch, CPR). Letter from Post Office Department 13 November 1942, advises of their decision not to proceed with the establishment of the Glade Post Office. Ferry list, March 1965, identifies the Glade ferry, crossing the Kootenay River at this point.
