Had been labelled "Beaver River" on BC map 37, Stuart Lake (later pre-emptor sheet 3C), 1913; labelled "Sutherland (Beaver) River" on BC map 3C, 1914, and on BC map 1G, 1916. Listed as "Sutherland River (not Beaver)" in the 1930 BC Gazetteer.
