"Macintyre Lake" suggested 20 September 1935, at a public meeting held in Courtenay to determine potential names for inclusion on the new map of Forbidden Plateau, "...In honour of John Macintyre, a former mayor of Courtenay..." (October 1935, file F.2.34). MacIntyre Lake [sic] resubmitted in 1948 by Ruth Masters, Comox & District Mountaineering Club. "...[this lake was] formerly known as McIntyre Lake [sic]..." (Place Names of Strathcona Park, by Allan Brooks, 1989, citing information provided by Ruth Masters). Note spelling variations.
