Origin Notes and History:
"Nigger Creek" was approved in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Name changed to "Negro Creek" 3 May 1961 on Ottawa file OBF 3177; confirmed 7 November 1962. Coordinates of mouth altered 2 November 1988 on 82G/5 to 49 25 45 - 115 56 30 (NAD27). "Negro Creek" rescinded as an official name 6 February 2023 as proposed from a resident due to the derogatory nature; no replacement name officially adopted for the creek.
