Origin Notes and History:
Lava Fork adopted 24 July 1945 on 104/SE, as labelled and positioned on International Boundary Commission sheet # 3, published in 1927 from surveys 1905-20, and on BC map 5C, Stikine River, 1929. Form of name changed to Lava Fork (creek) and location confirmed 25 August 1978 on 104B/7.

This creek crosses the BC-Alaska boundary at 56º 22' 50" - 130º 53' 00" and drains into Blue River (Alaska) at approximately 56º 20' - 130º 53'. Name applied to the wrong watercourse on federal 1:250 000 sheet 104B, edition 1, 1955. Name applied to the correct watercourse but mislabelled "Lava Fork Creek" on federal 1:50 000 sheet 104B/7, edition 1, 1974.
