Firvale (settlement) adopted 7 February 1947 on 93SW - a long-established name, labelled on BC Lands' map 2E, 1924, identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, etc. Location adjusted 3 miles westward 9 February 1962 on 93D/8.

Sloan Post Office was opened here 1 November 1907; renamed Firvale Post Office 19 July 1912; closed January 31, 1917 (at the time of closing the post office was situated on the E 1/2 of SW 1/4, Sec 28, Tp8, R3.
