Abbott Creek adopted 5 December 1962 on 82K/11, as identified in 1894 field notes and surveys for Lots 765-768 (Field Book 146/94, ph9) and in 1900 field notes for Lot 4950 (Field Book 903/1900 ph67), and as labelled on BC Mineral Reference Map #2, 1928.

After Harry Abbott, who staked the Abbott mineral claim in 1894, and who later formed Abbott Mines Ltd. [The mineral claim was mis-spelled "Abbot" in early BC Mines Reports, leading to early confusion about the correct spelling of the creek's name.]
