Mount Colonel Foster adopted 4 March 1947on 92F/12, not Mount Foster as labelled on Strathcona Park Survey map 1914.

Named in 1914 by an Alpine Club of Canada climbing party, after Colonel William Washborough Foster ( - 1953), later Major-General Foster, CMG, DSO, longtime member of the Alpine Club of Canada. In his capacity as Minister of Public Works, Colonel Foster had been instrumental in securing financing for the 1914 ACC expedition to the recently established Strathcona Park. His description of the early development of Strathcona Park was published in Canadian Alpine Journal, vol V, 1913, pp 96-99; participation in Mount Logan Expedition in CAJ 1924, pp27-47; obituary in CAJ 1955, p52.
