At one time the mountains west of Upper and Lower Arrow Lakes and the Columbia River (ie. today's Monashee Mountains) were known as the Gold Range, but the name is now restricted to a comparatively narrow strip along the west shore of the Upper and Lower Arrow Lakes and the Columbia River from about Revelstoke south. Bounded on the East by the Columbia River, on the South by South Fostall Creek and Sitkum Creek, on the West by Shuswap River, and on the North by the Trans-Canada Highway.
